Happy birthday iMobility Challenge!

As the iMobility Challenge campaign celebrates its first birthday, we are happy to report on our recent awareness raising events. In the Netherlands, at our largest exhibition to date, a thousand and eight hundred participants (professionals and non) gathered to witness and test-drive latest mobility technologies on the Valkenburg airport’s runway.

Cooperative mobility systems for cities (intersection safety systems and dynamic traffic lights); autonomous driving; eCall; and a race with high-performance electric cars were the highlight demos of the day, the latter bearing witness to the FIA’s active role in promoting electric mobility. Among the celebrity drivers present, F1 star Nico Rosberg acted as our iMobility ambassador on the day.

In Strasbourg, at the “Village de la Mobilité” over six thousand members of the public also had access to the iMobility Challenge stand where an eCall and Eco-driving simulator were made available for anyone to test.

As part of our public outreach efforts, we are also trying to gain a better understanding of consumers’ awareness and understanding of new intelligent mobility technologies and their willingness to pay for them. We therefore just launched an electronic survey which we welcome all of you to take part in.

We hope you continue engaging in the challenge’s activities and join our efforts to bring intelligent mobility to our roads!
