Event recap: exhibition event for policy-makers
Autoworld, Brussels
The iMobility Challenge technology exhibition gathered more than 300 participants from the European institutions, industry representatives and various stakeholders in Autoworld, Brussels. The event combined the demonstration of innovative automotive technologies with a panel debate as well as keynote speeches from policy-makers and industry representatives. The purpose of the event was to gather all stakeholders to create a common vision of how we can best deliver these technologies to all road users.
On the topic of vehicle connectivity, FIA Region I director general, Jacob Bangsgaard, reminded the attendance the FIA’s call for open and secure telematics networks, so that a variety of trusted services providers can operate in a fair market place. CLEPA CEO Jean-Marc Galles underlined an additional benefit of iMobility technologies: to contribute to technological leadership of the European automotive industry, creating value and jobs. ACEA’s secretary general, Erik Jonnaert, joined the call for making iMobility technologies accessible and affordable.
Representatives from various institutions of the European Union including Mr Paul Timmers, EC Director for Sustainable & Secure Society, Mr Carlo Pettinelli, EC Director, for Industrial Policy, Mr Mark Van Stiphout, Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner Oettinger and Mrs Colette Maloney, EC Head of Unit of Smart Cities and Sustainability contributed with their messages to the success of this event.
The following companies participated in the exhibition with stands presenting their latest innovations: 3M, Autoliv, Bosch, Continental, Delphi, Keyzee, Octo, TRW, and Valeo. The various technologies showcased included among others: eCall, improved night time visibility, driver monitoring and tire information systems, automated driving functions and driver assistance features, electric hybrid powertrains, connected infotainment systems, and smart services & applications.
